Discover the secrets of michoacan crafts

From $750 MXN

A trip like any other, where you touch, file, construct and create. The first requirement is wanting to know crafts from Michoacan and, beyond aesthetics of creativity, to know the workshops where beautiful shapes, threads, masks of items are made.

We departure at 9 am from the downtown of Morelia to head towards Capula, and to know the technique of paste gum which is used to made catrinas. We will follow our idyllic path to Santa Fe de la Laguna, birthplace of pottery and funeral ceramic. In the shores of the Patzcuaro Lake, in the colorful Tzintzuntzan we will visit a workshop of corn leaves and high temperature ceramic.

The trip will continue in the shores. At Ihuatzio we will find a vegetal fiber named chuspata, its rigidity and treatment allows the artisans to make from baskets to full bedrooms. And we will have two places left to visit: Patzcuaro, with its majestic lacquer and the corn stalk paste, and Tocuaro, place of the iconic masks and product of the parties and the mythical world.

We will return to Morelia with more than crafts: we would have learned and appreciate each piece and the work of michoacan hands.
