Amalia Solórzano de Cárdenas Cultural Center

Tacámbaro de Codallos

This cultural center is dedicated to the exhibition of varied artistic works, mainly photography. The place used to be the home of First Lady Amalia Solorzano, wife of President Lázaro Cárdenas. The love story between the president and his wife is very famous in Tacámbaro because she was born there and they met at a local estate known as “Los Pinos”. When Lázaro Cárdenas came to power, as a token of gratitude towards this “Magical Village” for being the place where he met his wife, he named the presidential palace “Los Pinos”. (So far it keeps the name).

In addition to the temporary exhibitions, there is a permanent exhibition regarding this love story as well as the family’s documents and photographs.
