Inaugurated on September 30th, 1970, Morelia’s Zoo was decreed a decentralized public agency dependent on the State Government in 1981.
It was named after the Mexican president Benito Juárez because its green areas were planted by the end of the 19th century in order to celebrate the birth of the beloved politician. It is located south of Morelia, in the corner of Calzada Juárez and Avenida Camelinas.
