The former Carmelite Convent was built between 1593 and 1619 and it was later remodeled to become the House of Culture of Morelia. Some of the renovated facilities include: the old friar cells located on the top floor of the largest cloister; which nowadays function as administrative offices and workshops; and the old dining room located on the ground floor, next to the convent’s west entrance, which is now a dance hall. The walls feature a fresco representing the “Sacred Family”.

The House of Culture of Morelia offers different courses and workshops. Also the House is used as an artistic exhibition space.
