This church is an excellent example of the architectural tradition inherited from the Arabs, with its wooden roofs and inclined beams (known as alfardas). The church features a typical Mudejar style which remained unchanged until masonry vaults began popular. The building also showcases several samples of the regionals emblematic woodworking. Saint James (Santiago the Apostle) is the patron saint of Nurio, and they celebrate him every July the 25th.
