Tziranda Caves

Ciudad Hidalgo

From $30 MXN

These caves receive their name from the abundant Tziranda trees in the surroundings. Formerly these caves were used as a refuge during the wars, it is even said that the priest Don Miguel Hidalgo was hidden here while fleeing from the soldiers who sought to seize him.

The caves are divided into two areas, the first one is a protected area sheltering 19 species of bats (some of them endangered); the second area is open to the public. They are located to the east of Ciudad Hidalgo, on federal highway 15 (towards Tuxpan).
